Delete your account
This page explains how to delete the account you use on registeracompanyintheuk.com and in the Register a Company mobile app, and exactly what happens to your data when you do. You do not need the app installed to use it.
Delete it yourself, in the app
- Open the app and go to Settings.
- Scroll to Close your account.
- Tap Delete my account and confirm with your password.
This is immediate and cannot be undone.
Or ask us
Email [email protected] from the address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. We will confirm within one working day and complete it within 30 days, as UK GDPR requires.
What is deleted
- Your name, email address and password.
- Every company and every officer on your saved list.
- Your filing reminders, and the record of which have been sent.
- Any device registered to receive notifications.
- Every sign-in token, on every device.
What we have to keep, and why
If we have formed a company for you or taken a payment, we cannot delete everything. Incorporation records, anti-money-laundering identity checks and transaction records are kept because the Companies Act 2006, the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and HMRC require it — for six years in most cases, and longer where a specific rule says so. That obligation overrides a deletion request; it is not a choice we make.
In that case we delete your saved list, your reminders and your sign-in credentials, and keep only the statutory record. The app will tell you this rather than failing silently, and we confirm it by email.
Accounts with nothing attached
If you only ever searched the register and saved companies, there is no statutory record to keep and the deletion is complete — nothing of yours remains.
Your other rights
You can also ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. The privacy notice sets out how.
